Engine Shops under construction

We have construction in process of the new shops, built on the former site. The buildings are of post and beam, just like the original. We are using materials from a company named "ShelterKit" that produces a number of building sizes and styles with all materials supplied in a pre-cut (mostly) kit. You just need to provide a foundation (full or just post footings, like sonotubes). The whole building arrives in a truckload, for which you will need 4 or 5 guys to help unload. Thereafter 2 men can put up the whole building. Economical and really a well designed structure. Highly recommended.

New Bay View AGRR Enginehouse:
Building to right is new office/pattern shop. In lower right of new building in image, the horizontal timber is temporary and crosses the stall opening. The concrete foundation is visible below it to the right. We are doing the rebuild as two stalls, not three as in the "old" image below.

Old Bay View Enginehouse

Old AG RR machine shop: interior view. My maternal great-grandfather is the Finnish gentleman on the right in the image. He immigrated from Finland in 1880 with my great-grandmother to work in the Cape Ann granite quarries. After losing some fingers in a black powder accident he worked on the railroad, eventually becoming an engineer.
